My New Project...

As most of you can imagine, I was pretty distraught about having to paint over Tegan's nursery. Natalie and I spent many hours painting her mural and it was heartbreaking to have to get rid of it. Her room just doesn't look right without her Pooh bear watching over her as she sleeps. So, with that in mind, I had to do something. Simple solutions come to mind after spending 5 years in art school. Hooray for that. Idea #1) (which I should have done to begin with!!) paint things that can be framed and moved. Duh. Yes, I know people told me to do that to begin with, but whatever. The mural was awesome while it lasted. With that said, I have spent the last few days working on new decor for her sweet little nursery. In the form of watercolor paintings! Woohoo for art-ing once again...how I miss it! I was never much of a fan of watercolor but I think I have found a new fondness for it! I did 1 large painting and 4 smaller ones. The big one is 22"x30" and the smaller ones are 11"x15". They look pretty good I think! I just have to buy frames for them then I'll add photos of the nursery. I hope she likes them! :) (in case you didn't know, you can click on the pictures to see a larger view!) Let me know what you think of them!

This is the big one
Of course, the mural had to be reincarnated.

I think these last 2 are my favorites! (they coincidentally come from my 2 favorite stories)

Sweet potatoes and haircuts...

Such a good weekend we had! As you can see by the title, big things happened this weekend. My mom and brother came up for a visit...their first time in wonderful Clarksville. We decided that since Tegan has been sporting a 'fro for a good 2 months now, it is time for her to get a haircut.
See the baby 'fro?

As cute as it was, it was just a mess. So there is a before picture. My mom brought her haircutting stuff and we all got trims. Baby girl did pretty good with the whole process. Except at the very beginning when she tried to eat the cape and got a mouthful of hair clippings. After that, we decided stripping her down to her pampers would be easier than trying to keep the cape out of her mouth. A few distractions later, she had much shorter curls and looked like a whole new baby!
Look at that Buddha belly. Wow!

Tegan was VERY excited about her new style!

My mom and I spent most of the weekend hanging wall decorations and getting some of my art framed finally! The house looks much better now! We all went to eat at Red Lobster Friday night, then Charles and I cooked dinner Saturday night, which I must say was a big hit! We cooked Bang Bang shrimp and cajun chicken with mushrooms, tomatoes, and alfredo sauce. Yummmy! Tegan decided that didn't please her, so she had sweet potatoes. Or should I say her outfit had sweet potatoes? We gave up on the bib that day because she found the pink and white polka dots more interesting than the food.

A cute picture of Tegan in the adorable outfit Mama Cindy got her! Love it!

And one of her hanging out with her Uncle Kevin!

Home, sweet home!

We have settled into our new abode and so far so good! The move went really smoothly, minus sleeping on an air mattress for about 4 too many nights! But all in all it couldn't have been better! The movers did a great job and nothing got lost/stolen/broken in the process, except the thing that makes our microwave plate spin. We have no idea where that went. I really like our house thus far, minus a few minor problems with it that have since been remedied. We learned that for some reason, none of our bathrooms had toilet paper roll holders. And only 1 bathroom had a working towel rack. But the property managers got that fixed yesterday along with a minor plumbing problem. So we are all good now! Yay! Tegan has settled in nicely as well..she is enjoying her new room, which is upstairs along with the office/extra bedroom, and full bath. Downstairs is the master bedroom suite, laundry room and half bath, kitchen, dining room and living room. The garage is only being used for storage right now. I suppose we'll eventually move a car into it. I don't know. We only have 3 boxes left to unpack, which just contain books and since we no longer have a pantry we had to use our only bookshelf as a pantry. Charles starts work tomorrow so it will be me and Tegan's first day alone in the new place. I suppose we'll manage! Let's see what else has been going on...

We met a few neighbors that were having a yard sale. Don't know much about them, but we at least shook hands with them. Most of the town is military (duh) and there really isn't anything here as I said before. In our lovely backyard, we have a new pet! A little brown bunny named Herman. I feed him squash that he doesn't eat. Me, Charles and Tegan went to "the mall" yesterday just to walk around. It's pretty small, but it's better than nothing. We are learning our way around pretty well, and considering there isn't much to learn I think we'll manage. There are, literally, 11,000 strip bars, 638 regular bars, 907 fast food restaurants, 4 billion tattoo parlors, countless chinese/korean/japanese take-outs, and 97 1/2 billion barbershops. That's it. You have now been given a tour of Clarksville, TN. Be jealous.

Little Miss Tegan started eating solids this week!! And boy can she eat...but what's new right? She's been chomping away on some rice cereal and so far it seems to be agreeing with her! I'm posting pics below since I don't have much more to update...

Numm nummm nummmmm...FOOOD!

Trying to be cool like Daddy!
Definitely suspicious behavior...going to have to keep a close eye on this one...
Our backyard...where Herman lives.
And my absolute favorite picture of Tegan thus far...

Just a quick one...

Movers are coming tomorrow! Yikes! Everything here is looking a little bare..but will be much worse tomorrow! Our bags are packed and we're ready to go! We will be staying here in our empty apartment for 4 more days, then leaving for Fort Campbell Tuesday morning! Woo. We are just busy getting everything ready to go! Pray that our move goes smoothly! Oh yeah, we obviously won't have internet for several days, so if you need me/us, you know the number!

The 4th and more...

We had a busy busy weekend! Tegan went to stay with her Auntie Sonya Thursday through Saturday! They had a BLAST! Except that Tegan is teething and she has not been a very happy baby lately. Actually, she hasn't been all that bad, but bad compared to her usual happy self. Since Tegan was gone and my birthday was Sunday, Charles surprised me with a fabulous birthday weekend! He sent me to get a massage Thursday (which was amazing!) and I had dinner with my awesome friends from EBSCO at Carraba's...it was so much fun! I'm going to miss these gals, but they are going to have to make a roadtrip to visit! We grilled out with Charles's friends on Friday and they shot some fireworks and whatnot. Saturday he took me to see "Wall-E" (LOVED IT!) and out to eat at Bonefish. Mmmm it was delicious! As I already mentioned, Sunday was my birthday. And in celebration of my own birthday, I decided that was the day I wanted to get Tegan christened! So we did! Tegan got christened at Trinity U.M.C. Sunday morning and she wore the christening gown my brother and I both wore that a friend of the family made for us. She looked beautiful! (of course, there are pictures below) I didn't get any really good pictures of the service on my own camera, but there were about 6-7 people taking pictures from their cameras so once I get some better ones in my hands I will add them. In attendance were Charles, me, my mom and stepdad, my brother, my grandmother, my Godmother, Marguerite, Tegan's Godparents Cindy and Don (plus the kiddos!), The Leggs, Charles's friend Justin came in town from TX, Sonya and Sean and Leila. Oh yes, and the wee-one of course! Afterwards we grilled out at my parent's house and had cake and ice cream to celebrate the big day! It was really fun and I got a few cute pictures from there also!

As for the rest of the week ahead, the movers are coming on Friday to pack us up! So we will still be in our apartment living on paper plates and cups and an air mattress. Haha..should be interesting. We leave here on the 16th! Yikes! It's going by sooo fast! I've been purging out apartment since yesterday and have cleared out 2 trashbags full of crap. There is more to come...I should get to work. Here are pics from the weekend!

Oh yeah, and Tegan can kind of sit up on her own now! BIG GIRL! :)
